Schenectady Offset Dot Face Prototype Cast Iron Putter
The only known Arthur Night cast iron headed Schenectady center-shafted putter sold at Sotheby’s in 2007. It had Schenectady putter #2 stamped on the back. This putter may in fact be the original prototype of the Schenectady putter Walter Travis made famous when he won the 1904 British Amateur. It has a smaller head than the regular Schenectady, dot-punched face markings, back of the head stamped Schenectady putter only, hickory shaft with leather grip, and predictable small crack on hosel. It was in all probability produced by Knight as an experiment and never entered production.
