1981 Ryder Cup Player Gift - Matthew Norman Swiss Clock - Ray Floyd Collection
The distinguished Matthew Norman brand talks about use of its clocks to awaken Napoleon's troops for battle. Players from both sides of the Atlantic had no excuses for missing their tee times at the 1981 Ryder Cup matches as they were each gifted with the exclusive clock we offer here hailing from Ray Floyd's collection. The 1981 Ryder Cup matches saw the United States team pound the European team, winning 18 1/2 to 9 1/2. Ray Floyd's 3 points propelled the US team to victory at Walton Heath Golf Club. Watch face bears the wording "Matthew Norman", "Quartz", and "Swiss Made". While the wood casing which houses the clock carries a brass plate that notes "Ryder Cup Matches", "Ryder Cup 1981", "Walton-Heath England". In over ten years of auctioning fine golf memorabilia we have never come upon another one of these Ryder Cup gifts.
