1974 PGA Championship Enameled Necklace/Pennant

This lot contains a 1974 PGA Championship necklace. The championship that year was played at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, North Carolina. This was a particuraly interesting year not only for golf but for the United States. In this year, Lee Trevino bested Jack Nicklaus, who was the defending champion, by a single stroke. This was the fourth time that Nicklaus was runner-up to Trevino in a major. To add to Nicklaus' unfortunate luck, 1974 was also the only year that he did not win a major championship. The 1974 PGA Championship marked Trevino's fifth major title. He would later go on to win one more. The tournament also coincided with President Nixon's resignation. The pendant measures 1 1/4" in diameter and the chain measures 12" long.
