Arnold Palmer Signed 8x10 Coast Guard Photo - Framed

Those who know him best call him Arnie. Much of the golf community simply knows him as "The King". However before his golf fame, he was referred to as "recruit" and "yeoman" by his superiors in the Coast Guard. After his college roommate died tragically, Palmer came to the conclusion that his life needed direction so he joined the Coast Guard from the years 1951-1953. In those impressionable years, Palmer found a great deal of success within the Coast Guard and was urged to attend the Coast Guard Academy. Faced with a tough decision, Palmer ultimately he decided to return to Wake Forrest for his final semester and promptly won the US Amateur Open in 1954. The picture in this lot shows Palmer in uniform golfing, as the Coast Guard allowed him to compete in amateur tournaments while he was enlisted.
