A. G. Spalding & Bros Model Irons M-11 Iron - M. W. C.
No matter what brand of club you pull from your bag, you owe some thanks to one company - Spalding. At the turn of the 20th Century, golf had stirred mild interest in the United States, and A.G. Spalding & Brothers sporting goods saw an opportunity. The company was already selling golf balls when, in 1905, it became the first in America to offer its own brand of golf clubs. Offered here is the M-11 iron from Spalding, measuring 35" to the heel. The initials M. W. C. are also stamped on the back and there appears to be tape at the grip.
Please note: This auction will end at 5:00pm EST on Sunday, March 4th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. Still the lowest rate among major golf auction houses, a buyer's premium of 17.5% for all items is now in effect. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
