Famous Dr. Edgerton's Stop-Action Bobby Jones Swing Photograph
The estate code number “10.776” identifies this 8x10 original gelatin silver print on single weight glossy paper as the Bobby Jones Driver Multiflash stop-action image taken in 1938. On the reverse side there are two official Dr. Edgerton rubberstamps, one with his M.I.T. code and other applied in 1990 shortly after Edgerton’s death issued from his estate. All of Dr. Edgerton's negatives have been retired and are at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. When the prints were made of Edgerton's photos, there were no more than 150 prints made in all sizes. Each one of these seldom seen prints are all housed in institutional or private collections, and there are no more to be sold. In addition to halt on selling, no more prints were to be made after his death. This highly sought after and seldom seen Bobby Jones stop-action photograph was originally taken in April, 1938 at the A.G. Spalding Sport Center in New York City. Bobby Jones was not the only one there, as a group of golfers were present for the Dr. Edgerton's photo shoot. Bobby Jones swung a driver in this photo. Harold Eugene "Doc" Edgerton was a pioneer in his field. The electrical engineering professor at M.I.T. is credited with making stroboscopes more commonplace among everyday cameras. Accompanied by the estate code of "10.776", this extremely rare and sought after original gelatin silver print from Dr. Edgerton is offered to you now. No prints were made after his death, and only those produced during his lifetime of all different shapes and sizes number only 150. Measures 8" x 10"
