1983 US Open at Oakmont Contestant Badge - Larry Nelson Win
Much of the attention at the 1983 United States Open staged at Oakmont Country Club outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was focused on Seve Ballesteros and Tom Watson. When Larry Nelson shot a low round of the event 65 on Saturday, he was in second place and in the hunt. With rain interrupting Sunday's final round, Nelson came back and hit a long birdie putt of 60 feet to spark his 67 on the final round and a one stroke victory over Watson. This Major win combined with PGA Championship wins in 1981 and 1987 guided the election of Nelson into the Golf Hall of Fame. Here we have a contestant badge from the tournament in excellent condition. It measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/2".
