1941 Tam O'Shanter Open Golf Tournament Program - Byron Nelson Winner
Both professional and amateur golfers alike flocked to participate in George May's All American golf tournaments conducted at his course Tam O'Shanter just outside Chicago. For professionals it was about the prize purse, largest by far of the year (with a win there, and no others, you could lead the PGA money list for the year). In 1941, the first event was staged of the premier golf event to carry on throughout World War II. Byron Nelson, the dominant PGA player in this time frame, captured the first title (an event he would win in four of the first five years, 1941-42 & 44-45). Offered here is a program from the 1941 tournament won by Byron Nelson. The cover is separated from body of program, otherwise in good condition.
