Johnny Bulla Signed 3x5 Cut with 8x10 B&W Photo

When the 16th edition of the 1941 Los Angeles Open got underway. it was a young drugstore employee from Chicago who stole the headlines. Johnny Bulla, a non-PGA member, using 35 cent Walgreens bargain counter golf balls (when pros of the day were using 75 cent balls), nearly destroyed the course in round two. After an eagle on the first hole, he shot seven straight threes, turning the front nine in 30. He slowed up a bit on the back, but still turned in a 66. A two stroke penalty for hitting the wrong ball almost put an end to Bulla's rags to riches quest. He however came back strong on the final day witha 69 for a two stroke win over Craig Wood.
This was Bulla's only win on the Tour, finishing second in three Majors, twice to Sam Snead. This 3x5 cut comes with an 8x10 balck and white photograph of Bulla.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
