1966 US Amateur Championship at Merion GC Program with Pairing Sheet
Gary Cowan was a Canadian golfer who achieved outstanding results at the highest class in amateur competition, winning the 1966 US Amateur Championship. Held at the Merion Club, Cowan defeated Deane Beman in a 18 hole playoff. In 1971, he won his 2nd Amateur Championship by sinking his approach shot on the final hole with a nine-iron for an eagle two. Cowan remains the only player to win the U.S. Amateur twice at stroke play, and he remains one of only two Canadians (the first was Sandy Somerville in 1932) to win the U.S. Amateur. Offered here is a program and a pairing sheet form the 1966 US Amateur in excellent condition.
