Lee Elder Signed Reception Pamphlet Commemorating His Historic Appearance
Here we have a framed pamphlet that measures 12 1/4" x 9 1/4" signed by Lee Elder and Henry J Brown. Lee Elder was the first African American golfer invited to play at Augusta, after qualifying for the 1975 Masters. This pamphlet was produced by The Pilgrim Life and Health insurance Company as a welcome to Elder from a primarily African American company. Elder missed the cut at the 1975 Masters, won by Jack Nicklaus.
Henry J Brown was an African American caddy in the 1960s and 1970s. Brown was the on the bag for Roberto De Vincenzo at the 1968 Masters won by Bob Goalby after De Vincenzo mistakenly signed for a higher score.
This is an incredible piece for golf memorabilia that would add greatly to any collection.
