1947 "News of the World" Match Play Championship Competitor Badge
Here we have a competitor's badge from the 1947 News of the World match play championship. This tournament was played from 1903-1979, when stroke play format tournaments stole the spotlight. Before WWII, this tournament was an incredible match of the best European golf had to offer. In 1947 Fred Daly won the tournament, fresh off his Open Championship win. 2" diameter
