Francis Ouimet Framed Composite Stamp Advertising Piece with Stamps & Envelope
Here we have a nice framed 19 3/4" x 32 1/2" advertising piece celebrating Francis Ouimet. Ouimet earned the nickname the "father of amateur golf" in the U.S. and was a respected player in the early 1900s. His major championships include wins at the 1913 U.S. Open and 1914 and 1931 U.S. Amateur Tournaments. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame posthumously in 1974. Here we have an advertising poster, and envelope, and 10 stamps that honor Ouimet.
**THE LEE CRIST "MR. TEE" COLLECTION**
Since joining The Golf Collectors Society in 1987, Lee Crist has made his montra with the golf tee. And what a display it has been encompassing a plethora of different composites, shapes, colors and manufacturers. The Crist collection includes the earliest and most desired implements for 'teeing up" a golf ball which are known as sand molds, the precursors to the modern wood or plastic staples in today's game. The Golf Auction is honored to have spent some time in Lee's home learning the nuances of golf tee collecting from the hobbies ultimate expert. We are pleased to offer some of his favorite golf treasures in this auction.
