William Gibson Superior Mashie Iron

Here we have a mashie iron made by William Gibson. Gibson, like many others, started out as a blacksmith. He began making cleeks and eventually clubs. Gibson worked with many of the popular names in golf at the time, like Braid and Cochrane, but interestingly may have made the first set of clubs using a female golfer's name, like the Joyce Wethered line in the 1920's. The head features the following stamps: The Akros Model, Superior, Rustless, Geo Duncan, and well as the maker's stamp.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, January 29th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
