1934 ICGA Intercollegiate Golf Championship Contestant Badge - Charlie Yates Winner
From an unknown player #'33', measuring 1 1/4" x 1 3/8" this contestant's badge comes from the very seldom seen 1934 Intercollegiate Golf Championship. A scarce Depression Era collectible to survive. The winner of this event, Charlie Yates, on the other hand sure was popular especially when he went on to win the 1935 Western Open and the 1938 British Amateur. He continued to excel in the amateur ranks playing on the Walker Cup team in 1936 and 38 and was non-playing captain in 1953. He added low amateur status in the Masters in 1934, 39 and 40 to his resume. It will be hard to ever find a better example of this 1934 I.C.G.A. contestants badge
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, November 20th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
