1937 Babe Ruth & Babe Zaharias Wire Photo - 'Babe & Babe'
This is an original wire photo from 1937. Fresh Meadow Country Club hosted a charity game between John Montague, Babe Ruth, Babe Zaharias, and Sylvania Annenberg,a game that was watched by 10,000 fans, some of whom rushed the golf course and left Babe Ruth's shirt in tatters. This is an incredibly unique item for not only a golf collector, but for sports in general. Babe Ruth played baseball for 22 seasons, garnering a career batting average of .342 and hitting 714 home runs. Babe Zaharias was an unbelievable athlete. She played basketball, earned 3 Olympic medals in track and field in 1932, and won 10 LPGA Majors. Evidence of these two greats playing a game they both loved is priceless. Photo measures 11" x 7 1/2" and shows slight wear on edges.
