1976 US Open at Atlanta Athletic Club 1st Practice Day Ticket


This lot features the star-shaped ticket for the first practice day of the 1976 US Open. The ticket low numbered (00171) is missing the bottom right point and stamped "complimentary." The 1976 US Open, held at the Atlanta Athletic Club, saw tour rookie Jerry Pate win his only major. He edged out Al Geiberger and Tom Weiskopf by two strokes. This tournament also saw Jack Nicklaus' streak of 13 straight top 10 major finishes come to an end, the Golden Bear finishing tied for 11th place.
