2001 Ryder Cup 'The Belfry' Wedgewood China Box with Lid
A Wedgewood China box from the 2001 Ryder Cup at The Belfry is offered here. The history behind this is that the Ryder Cup was scheduled to be played in 2001, but was postponed to the following year after the attacks on September 11, 2001. While the Ryder Competition was scheduled to be played on British soil, both sides agreed that golf should take a step back following the events. In the 2002 Ryder Cup, Europe won the competition by a score of 15.5 to 12.5 over the United States. The China box with lid measures 3 7/8" x 1 7/8" and comes in near-mint condition.
