Lot of 4 Walter Travis 'The American Golfer' Magazines - 1914 (Feb, Mar, Apr) & 1917 (May)
Here we have four 'The American Golfer' magazines by editor Walter Travis that have been kept in excellent condition from their original distribution in 1914 and 1917. Walter Travis was a prominent figure in golf in the early 1900s and one of the premier amateur players, winning the U.S. Amateur three times (1900, 1901, 1903) and the British Open in 1904. He later became a noted journalist and publisher, as we see here in this lot, as well as a golf teacher, innovator, and golf course architect. Three 'The American Golfer' magazines from 1914 (February, March, April) come in this lot along with a May 1917 edition.
