Arnold Palmer Signed First Day Issue 'Bobby Jones' Cachet

R.I.P. to The King. We'll never see anyone in golf as beloved as Arnold Palmer, and his career accomplishments are overshadowed by his impact on the game. The late Palmer passed away Sunday, September 25 at age 87. Here we have an autograph from Arnold Palmer on a First Day Issue 'Bobby Jones' cachet. The 'Bobby Jones' cachet featured in this lot was first issued on Sept. 22, 1981. The great Bobby Jones would have been proud to see Arnold Palmer signing an item bearing his name, as the King helped golf's popularity grow just as Jones did decades earlier. Jones' impact on the game is known, as he helped create Augusta National Golf Club and co-founded the Masters Tournament. What Arnie did for the game was important, as well, as his friendly rivalry with Nicklaus throughout the 1960s and 1970s captivated audiences and helped golf become a mainstream sport in terms of popularity. Palmer has signed the cachet in black Sharpie.

James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the autographs and their certification of its authenticity will come with this lot.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, October 2nd with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
