1906 Vermont State Golf Association Championship Medal Won by Merrill K. Waters

A medal from the 1906 Vermont State Golf Association Amateur Championship is offered in this lot. The 1906 Championship, which was played at Ekwanok Country Club, was the Vermont Golf Association's fifth tournament, and was won by Merrill K. Waters. The medal measures 1 1/2" diameter and is in good-excellent condition, showing little to no sign of wear. A great vintage item for your collection.

**THE JOHN ROTH COLLECTION**
John Roth like Bobby Jones earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, so skilled was John that he would rise to the position of Director of Personal for the Monsanto Chemical Company with their worldwide headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. Shortly after retirement from the Fortune 500 company, John and his wonderful wife Joyce would move to North Carolina and build their dream house, of course on a golf course. Over a period of the last 20 years of his life with Joyce at his side, John amassed a collection of golf memorabilia and golf antiques that would rival most of the golf museums around the globe. He had a passion for the history and nuance of the game it's traditions and the ever-changing evolution of the manufacture of its equipment. John was a member of the Golf Collector's Society, and actively participated in many of its events around the country. John was also a long-time player in the Society of Hickory Golfers tournaments around the country, which honor the traditions of the game by playing with antique, wooden-shafted clubs. John won or placed highly in several tournaments up until shortly before his passing, and made many lifelong friends in these two organizations. It is his families wish that the collection of golf memorabilia, John treasured so much, can find good new homes where it can continue to be enjoyed and tell the history of the sport that meant so much to their husband and father.
