Multi-Signed 2001/2002 Ryder Cup Players Guide
A multi-signed 2001/2002 Ryder Cup Official Players Guide with signatures from members of both the winning European team and the United States team is available to bidders in this lot. The Ryder Cup was originally scheduled to be played from September 28-30, 2001, but was postponed one year due to the attacks of the World Trade Center and Pentagon on September 11, 2001. While the tournament was already scheduled to be played on British soil, at the Brabazon Course at The Belfry in Wishaw, Warwickshire, the PGA of America informed the European Ryder Cup Board that considering the tragedies that took place on September 11, the American team would not attend the matches. Both sides agreed to push the Ryder Cup back one year, with the same captains and players participating in 2002. The European team won the 2002 Ryder Cup by a score of 15.5-12.5. The Players Guide features signatures from Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington (x2), Colin Montgomerie, Paul Azinger, Marc Calcavecchia, and others.
