Robert White Smooth Face Lofting Iron - St. Andrews Maker

A circa 1885-1890 R. White smooth face lofting iron is available to bidders in this lot. The club has a hickory shaft with a smooth face, compact deep face iron with "R. White, Maker, St. Andrews" stamped on the back. Robert White was a well known St. Andrews cleek maker who would transition his craft to America. At the time of this clubs making White employed Tom Stewart as an apprentice. The shaft stamp is double stamped. The grip shows some wear, as can be seen in the photos provided. Overall, the club is in good condition, and a perfect addition to any hickory club collection.
