1999 & 2002 US Open Official Unused Scorecards - Steve Jones Collection
Two official United States Golf Association unused scorecards from the 1999 and 2002 U.S. Open as sourced from Steve Jones who competed in these Championships are available to bidders here. The 1999 U.S. Open was played at Pinehurst No. 2 and saw Payne Stewart hold off Phil Mickelson by a single stroke for his second U.S. Open title. It was Lefty coming in second again in the 2002 U.S. Open, played at the Black Course of Bethpage, finishing three strokes behind champion Tiger Woods. This was Tiger's second U.S. Open win and eighth Major.

We at The Golf Auction appreciate the opportunity to partner with the highly respected PGA Touring Professional Steve Jones in the auctioning of items from his collection of player badges, clubs, championship medals and mementos assembled over a PGA career which began in 1982 and spanned over the next 30 plus seasons on the regular and Champions Tours. This great run of golf at its highest level saw Jones five times finish in the yearly Top 40 of PGA earnings. His long successful career was highlighted by eight PGA Tour wins claimed at some of the most esteemed of Tour events which included the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, Canadian Open and of course his Major triumph at the 1996 United States Open. This victory which came at the famed, for its difficulty of play, Oakland Hills. This triumph saw Jones post a record setting winning score of 278. This championship winning score remains to this day the the lowest total posted at any of the six U.S. Open's and two Senior U.S. Open's held at the course Ben Hogan would call "The Monster" (with members of the champions at Oakland Hills club besides Jones including Hall of Famers Ralph Guldahl, Hogan, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus). Following the 1996 golf season, Jones also had the esteemed honor of being named the recipient of the Ben Hogan Award which is given annually by the Golf Writers Association of America to an individual who has continued to be active in golf despite a physical handicap or serious illness.
