Jack Fleck Signed Cachet with 1955 US Open Playoff Wire Photo

A wire photo from the 1955 U.S. Open showing surprise tournament winner Jack Fleck is listed here, along with his signed cachet on an envelope. Fleck signed in black ink with the note 'God Bless You' above the autograph, which is of perfect quality. The cachet is honoring Hall of Famer and 1932 Olympic golf champion Babe Didrikson Zaharias. The photo shows some signs of wear, and has a slit on the right edge, see photos. Fleck is best known for completing one of golf's greatest upsets at the Lake Course of the Olympic Club in San Francisco. Fleck, a municipal course pro from Iowa, denied Ben Hogan his tenth major championship and record fifth U.S. Open by defeating him in an 18-hole playoff for his only career major. Cachet measures 6 1/2" x 3 3/4", photo is 9" x 7"

James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this autograph and their certification of its authenticity will come with this lot.
