Lot of Two Ltd Ed 'Amen Corner' Matted Art Pieces - Each Are #248/1500
Two limited edition 'Amen Corner' matted art pieces are offered in this lot. Each piece measures 19" x 25" and are #248/1500. The phrase 'Amen Corner' was coined by Herbert Warren Wind in his April 21, 1958 Sports Illustrated article about that year's Masters Tournament. Amen Corner at Augusta National is a place where a lot of history has taken place, and it represents the second shot at the 11th hole, all of the 12th, and the first two shots at the 13th. Wind later told of its origin in a Golf Digest article in April 1984, saying he wanted a catchy phrase like baseball's "hot corner" or football's "coffin corner" to explain where some of the most exciting golf had taken place. The name came from a song Wind remembered from the mid-1930s by a Chicago jazz group Mezz Mezzrow, called 'Shouting in that Amen Corner.'
