Ken Venturi Signed Sports Illustrated - 12/21/1964
Since its inception in 1954, Sports Illustrated magazine has annually presented the "Sportsman of the Year" award to "the athlete or team whose performance that year most embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement". Only five golfers over this sixty year period have received this prestigious honor- Arnold Palmer 1960, KEN VENTURI 1964, Lee Trevino 1971, Jack Nicklaus 1978 and Tiger Woods 1996, 2000. We offer the mentioned 1964 Sports Illustrated issue depicting Ken Venturi on the cover in VG-EX condition. The Hall of Famer, Venturi has added his black sharpie signature to the cover.

All four magazines are complete in Excellent or better condition, and have been signed on front covers by these stars of the 1960's and 70's golf scene.
Lot of 2 Lee Trevino Signed Sports Illustrated Magazines
6/28/1971 U.S. Open Win, and 12/20/1971 Sportsman of The Year-All both magazines remain in at least Excellent condition and are complete with strong spines. The two 1971 issues are of importance to Lee Trevino collectors as they come from his finest season of what was to be a Hall of Fame career. The June 28 issue recapped his win at the U.S. Open. It was Trevino's second U.S. Open title in four years, and his remarkable championship form held for most of the summer. In a span of twenty-three days, he also won the Canadian Open and the British Open. In large part of these Championships, Trevino returned to the cover of Sports Illustrated's year end issue as that magazines choice as 1971 Sportsman of The Year. Both issues of S.I. offered in this lot have been signed big and bold by "Merry Mex" in sharpie.
Paul Runyan Signed Sports Illustrated - 8/6/1962
Paul Runyan in his Hall of Fame career won 29 times on the PGA Tour highlighted by PGA Championship wins in 1934 and '38. His game was so acclaimed in the 1930's that he was paired with Bobby Jones in 1934 for the first 36 holes of the first Masters. Sports Illustrated and autograph both remain in top condition, and present with clarity the seldom seen signed S.I. of this dominant 1930's golfer. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature from Runyan, and their letter of authenticity will come with this lot
