Herman Keiser Signed Undated Classic Masters White Flag with 'Masters 1946'
This early 1990's flag is one of the sought after fore runners which started the popular trend which continues today of Masters champions signing pin flags. Herman Keiser, 1946 Masters champion, who defeated Ben Hogan by one shot in the first post World War II event has signed this early edition flag. After a long debilitating battle with Alzheimer's disease, Mr. Keiser unfortunately deceased in 2003. Even when he was alive and healthy many collectors needed Keiser to complete their Masters collections. Due to very few appearances on the golf stage outside of a yearly trek to Augusta for the Masters champions dinner, Mr. Keiser's autograph proved difficult to obtain. This difficulty of signature is only compounded by the added difficulty of inscription, this gem of an autograph has that going for it as well. Keiser in his own hand has placed 'Masters 1946' atop his name. This one has it all for the collector--tough flag, seldom seen deceased Masters champ autograph, and a notation to top it off.
James Spence Authentication(JSA)has reviewed this signature of Herman Keiser, and their paperwork of authenticity comes with this lot.
