1968 PGA Championship at Pecan Valley CC Contestant Money Clip/Badge - Julius Boros Winner

The badge of contestants admittance that year for the PGA displayed a green, gold and white color pattern of enamel against the 1 3/8” x 2 ½” money clip which carried engraving 1968 on its facing side. This money clip issued for the '68 event is offered here still retaining all it's original enamel. The reverse of this memento carries stampings of where these matches were contested "Pecan Valley Country Club" "San Antonio, Texas" and the date July 18-21 1968. When all the fireworks subsided at this event Julius Boros won his 3rd and final Major Championship sealing his Hall of Fame status. The badge offered here was one of the 165 issued to players and saw Boros defeat Arnold Palmer and Bob Charles by a single stroke. At the young age of 48 years, 4 months, 18 days, Boros still has the record of oldest golfer to win a Major Championship.
