1955 U.S.G.A. Amateur Public Links Championship Golf Medal - Coffin Golf Course


Medal has 1 1/2" diameter, length including ribbon is 3 1/4". Organized by the United States Golf Association this event was a Championship for golfers who played on public courses, as members of private clubs were not permitted to participate. An additional prize to winning this event was an invitation to play in the following years Masters Tournament. The champion in 1955 was Sam D. Kocsis who defeated Lewis T. Bean 2 up at Coffin G.C. in Indianapolis, In. His victory put him at the pinnacle of 2,007 entrants who had entered the Championship.
