Kenneth Smith Clubhead Vice
The clubmaker would fit a club head in the vice and then bend the neck to adjust both the loft and lie of the club. The sole of the club rested on the two screws heads visible on the bottom of the vise. These bolt heads made sure that the clubhead was centered. They two brass blocks are angled over the opening so they can fit over the top line of an iron and hold it in place. The two bolts that are coming straight into the opening in this vise were used to fit against the face. Some parts may be missing, such as caps for the screws tp prevent diggin into a club's face. Most likely the missing brass pieces would hinge so they would fit flush against what would be an angled face. Kenneth Smith custom made all their clubs for individual clients, so this vise to assist in adjusting loft and lie was a necessity
