1946 US Open Championship at Canterbury GC Final Rd Ticket - #FFAA4662
With movie star good looks Lloyd Mangrum ruled the tour in its first Golden Age, along with Jimmy Demaret, Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson. In 1946 at Canterbury outside Cleveland Ohio, Lloyd shot 74-77-68-72=284 for a score of -4 which put him in a three way playoff with Vic Ghezzi and Byron Nelson. The threesome tied in the first playoff round and played a second one in which Lloyd beat Vic and Byron by one shot to win this Championship and a check for $1500. Mangrum achieved all of this even though he gave up the prime years of his career during World War II which saw him land at Normandy, serve under General Patton, fight at the Battle of the Bulge and collect two Purple Hearts. This final day ticket from the 1946 US Open presents a near excellent condition
