Vintage September 9, 1922 'The American Golfer' Magazine with A Birdie on Cover


Includes 'Three Great American Courses' by Bernard Darwin. This great condition magazine offers a snapshot in golf history from over 90 years ago. Depicts on it's cover 'A Birdie' image done by artist James Montgomery Flagg. Walter J. Travis founded and edited The American Golfer Magazine from 1908 until 1920 (he died in 1927) and the editorship then devolved to Grantland Rice, who continued the premier golf publication until 1936. American Golfer was a leading golf magazine of the early 20th century and precursor to modern publications like Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. It includes news, feature articles, results and photography, and was published from 1908 to 1936. Serves as a fascinating research tool
