1938 US Open at Cherry Hills Contestant Badge - Ralph Guldahl
Presented here for the first time we have had a contestant badge from the 1938 tournament held at Cherry Hills. Ralph Guldahl won the second of his back-to-back US Open titles and did it with 5 clubs less than the year before. The USGA rule went into effect in that January limiting a golfer to 14 clubs. Guldahl became the 4th golfer to defend his title the U.S. Open, joining Willie Anderson, John McDermott, and Bobby Jones. There have only been two golfer's since 1938 to accomplish the same feat: Ben Hogan in 1951 and Curtis Strange in 1989.
1 1/4" x 1 1/4". Presents in top condition with original pin clasp intact.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, January 31st with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
