From Hall of Fame Quarterback Johnny Unitas' Collection by way of his wife comes this lot, along with three other lots in this auction. Unitas' estate and prized possessions from his NFL career were offered by Hunt Auctions in their 2024 February Auction. This plaque includes their original inventory label on the verso with their lot number as provenance. Photos of this piece remain on their website from original sale. Three-time MVP, Super Bowl V and three-time NFL champion with the Baltimore Colts, 10-time Pro Bowler and of course NFL Hall of Famer, Unitas is one of the greatest quarterbacks the league has ever seen.
Presented here is Johnny Unitas’ personal Contestant Plaque from his participation in the 1972 Stars and Stripes golf tournament held at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club. On the gold-tone nameplate just above the American Flag shield reads: "Oklahoma City Association of Broadcasters - Stars and Stripes - Pro-Star Am Invitational - Johnny Unitas = July 1st 1972 - Quail Creek Golf & Country Club." 6 1/2" x 11 1/4"
