'Cosby' Patented Stamped Brassie Wood circa 1924

This beautifully stained wood carrying the pronounced crown stamping of 'Cosby' in script remains a fine example of the uncommon club. A 1924 Patented Cosby Brassie has two very unique features: 1) It has a rare one-piece sewn leather grip as opposed the the usual leather wrapped grip (one inch wide piece of leather wrapped around the club handle) and 2) It also has approximately 11 inches of woven/braided whipping starting at the hosel as opposed to the usual one inch or so of waxed linen wrap-around whipping. Only the Cosby Company have ever used this extremely long, woven/braided whipping on their clubs. Inspection of the head will also reveal a lead weight insert opposite the shallow grooved face with its original brass sole p-late screwed in.
