Bobby Jones Jr. & Sr. at ANGC Prior to First Masters News Service Original Photo AUTHENTIC PSA TYPE I
Capturing an incredible father-son moment of golf and Masters history, Augusta News service photographer took this TYPE I photo shot of Bobby Jones and his father Colonel Jones R.P. Jones Sr. playing Augusta National Golf Club dated February 21, 1934, just a month prior to the inaugural 1934 Masters Tournament. Further cementing their bond that day, both Jr. and Sr. wore their alma mater Georgia Tech football "sweaters" - not jerseys. Cementing the infancy of the tournament, it is referred to by a local writer as the 'Masters Open Tournament.' The following verso affixed caption reads: "Augusta, GA - Colonel R.P. Jones and his famous son, Bobby Jones, after finishing a golf game at the Augusta National where The Masters Open Championship will be staged March 22-25. Father and son are wearing football sweaters of their Alma Mater, Georgia Tech." What a story this single photo still tells.
