Pinehurst Postcard Archive

Presented in this lot are four vintage Pinehurst postcards, each with a 1 cent George Washington step and detailed as follows.

a) Advertising postcard for the 1915-16 tournament schedule. Postmarked from Boston. (Home of the Tufts) in 1915. The scene on the front of this postcard is Course 2 – Bunker and water hazard 16th hole. the back of the card lists all the Pinehurst tournaments to be held in the 1915-16 season with “Donald J Ross Secy”. Printed at the end of the schedule.

b) Real photo postcard on front with the caption “parting of the ways Galleries follow their favorites at Pinehurst NC.” The rear of the postcard has a printed message in script from James W. Tufts pointing out the niceties of Pinehurst and urging the recipient to make a reservation. Postmarked from Pinehurst in 1934 and now the galleries are back at Pinehurst 90 years later for the 2024 US Open.

c) Color postcard depicting the famous Pinehurst country club terrace. Postmarked from Pinehurst in 1940 with a message from James W. Tufts to the rear.

d) Real photo postcard postmarked in 1914 of a man teeing off with sand tee box in forefront. The upper left corner of this postcard has and embossed stamp “Pinehurst The Famous Winter Resort in North Carolina .
