Tiger Woods Signed 2002 Masters SERIES Badge #R10706 BGS Auto Grade 10
The incredibly collectible, and equally challenging, Tiger Woods signed 2002 Masters series badge #R10706 with flawless '10' penmanship from the champion across this badge inked in robust, black sharpie is proudly presented in this lot. It's the nicest Tiger signature we have seen on this badge, clearly not obtained at the course. A rarity in Augusta, Tiger Woods successfully defended his Masters title in 2002 by defeating now two-time US Open winner Retief Goosen by three strokes. "Tiger-proofing" the course for the first time just prior to the 2002 contest and lengthening Augusta National 285 yards proved all-in-all unsuccessful. Woods was still triumphant with a cumulative score of 276 (-12) and just the third to repeat at The Masters after Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo. Bobby Jones, ANGC and tournament co-founder, is framed in a green color gradient border on the front of the year-specific 2002 Masters badge, the backdrop for Tiger's perfectly positioned scribe just below. 'Tiger proofing' and rarity both make their way into the conversation of Woods' signing habits and strong tendency to stay far away from quality items, with Masters win badges at the top of that list. Beckett has reviewed this signature (10) and graded this badge (8) noted in the encapsulation label #15490178 along with the tournament specifics for valuation, preservation and presentation.
