F. Sugg Sheffield Hickory Shaft Smooth Face Iron

Clubmaker, national cricket player and accomplished swimmer Frank Sugg's stamp adorns the head, along with his then place of work in Sheffield, Leeds and Cardiff that held its headquarters in Liverpool. Suggs' (b. 1862) sports shop tragically burnt down in 1905. In addition to golf clubs, the well-rounded sportsman Sugg also made wooden yachts that are still collected. This hickory shafted club with a smooth face and worn grip remains in overall good condition, as depicted by the accompanying lot photos. 31 1/2"
