1965 Ryder Cup European Team Jacket
The PGA of Great Britain did everything in grand fashion for the 1965 Ryder Cup which was contested at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England. This included an expanded venue for spectators with hospitality and a large tented village. Also of grand, high fashion the PGA of Great Britain in conjunction with their Team Captain Harry Weetman turned the tailoring of the team jackets over to the renowned haberdashery Simpson Piccadilly (as seen in pictured tagging) with flagship store just off Savile Row in the heart of London. The ease-of-wear of the trousers had already led to the brand DAKS (as seen in pictured tagging) being popular in golf wear. As shown in accompanying photo the breast pocket of this official 1965 Great Britain team jacket bears the embroidered Lion logo with wording RYDER CUP TEAM 1965 underneath.
