1945 LA Open Tournament Sunday Pairing Sheet - Sam Snead Winner

Sam Snead was expected to battle it out with Athlete-of-the-Year Byron Nelson in the 19th LA Open, but things seemed hopeless when Snead hooked his ball into the base of a tree on the seventh, leaving himself no clear shot to the green. Determined not to repeat his infamous "8" in the 1942 tournament, Slammin Sammy took a five iron and purposely smashed it into the tree trunk, bending the club. The ball sailed onto the green just 25 feet from the pin. His luck continued on 18, when he laid a 285-yard drive within five feet of the pin for birdie. His 283 gave him a one shot win over Nelson and Jug McSpadden. This lot features a Very Good condition pairing sheet from that exciting Sunday round.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on September 27th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
