Orville Moody Signed 1989 US Senior Open at Laurel Valley Commemorative Plate
The U.S. Senior Open which was first contested in 1980 is recognized as a major by both the Champions Tour and the European Seniors Tour.Orville Moody who had won the United States Open in 1969 made it a seldom accomplished double when he claimed the U.S.G.A. Senior Open twenty years later in 1989. As detailed on the reverse side of this 10 1/2" diameter plate this piece was Made expressly for The Committee Chairman of the Senior Open by Homer Laughlin China Co. The event in 1989 was contested at Laurel Valley with any items from that historic course always popular with collectors. The champion Orville Moody has signed this plate in black sharpie. JSA letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
