1981 PGA Championship at Atlanta Atheltic Club Plate
The 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" plate is this lot is made by Couroc Company headquartered in Monterey, California. The Coroc company was formed in 1948, and their products have become and remain collectible because of their high quality and beauty. Courac was very high end and only sold by top merchants. The company worked with several trophy and award manufacturers to produce many award items, especially for golf tournaments. That is the origin of the lot offered here which was undoubtedly well received by the high end celebrity crowd. It was crafted for the 1981 PGA Championship, although not known for sure, it is thought to have been a players gift for this event (previous players collections we handled featured Couroc plates as tournament gifts)
