1952 Los Angeles Open Program Signed by Tommy Bolt

It is only fitting that the cover of the 1952 Los Angeles Open is presented in vibrant color, as that year's champion Tommy Bolt was one of the most colorful players to tee it up in the rich history of characters the PGA Tour has known. Of note on the cover of the 26th L.A. Open program is the prize money which had been upped to $17,500 keeping it the richest purse on Tour. This however was not recognized as official prize money by the PGA of America, when the L.A. Open defied its ban on black players. The four regulation rounds of the event ended in a three way tie between Jack Burke, Dutch Harrison and Bolt. In the 18 hole playoff Bolt triumphed with a 69 to notch the victory, one of his 13 Tour wins. Program and the black sharpie cover signature of Tommy Bolt both present in solid near mint condition. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the autograph of Bolt, and their letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
