1941 First Tam O'Shanter Program Signed by Byron Nelson
Both professional and amateur golfers alike flocked to participate in George May's All American golf tournaments conducted at his course Tam O'Shanter just outside Chicago. For professionals it was about the prize purse, largest by far of the year (with a win there, and no others, you could lead the PGA money list for the year). In 1941, the first event was staged of the premier golf event to carry on throughout World War II. Byron Nelson, the dominant PGA player in this time frame, captured the first title (an event he would win in four of the first five years, 1941-42 & 44-45). Nelson has dual signed the front cover of this program in black sharpie. This inaugural year program remains in good condition with all pages intact despite the residue of tape along its 75 year old spine. James Spence Authentication has reviewed each of the ever popular Byron Nelson autographs on this publication, and their letter of authenticity will accompany this lot.
