'The Story of American Golf' Golf Book by Herbert Warren Wind
1948 1st edition in excellent condition. Black and white photograph opposite title; illustrated with photographs, line drawings, head pieces; red and black title. A fascinating account of American Golf from 1888-1948 including a piece on John Reid and his AppleTree Gang through to the time of Ben Hogan, the Come-Back champion. The last chapter is about "the lithe, smooth-muscled, deep-jawed Texan, Mildred ‘Babe’ Didrikson" and other women golfers.
We at The Golf Auction are proud to have the opportunity to represent Mark and Cynthia Brooks in the auctioning of items from their collection of golf books, art work and mementos assembled over a PGA career which began in 1983 and has encompassed a remarkable 799 career PGA tournaments. This great run of golf at its highest level has been highlighted by seven PGA Tour wins, his play as a victorious member of the 1996 United States Presidents Cup team, and of course his Major triumph at the 1996 PGA Championship.
