1941 Trans-Mississippi Golf Champ- Ingraham Self Starting Clock Trophy
Frank Stranahan arrived for good when he won the 1941 Trans-Mississippi Amateur Golf Championship at St. Louis. The Trans-Miss which had already been around for 41 years when Frank won, ranked only behind the National and Western in importance to amateur golfers. At 18 he was the youngest champion in the 41 year history of the event. In the 36 hole finals match, Stranahan put on a grand display of golf shooting 64 to go seven up after the morning 18, on cruise control from there, the final margin was 6 and 5 when the match ended on the 31st hole. The award which Stranahan won at this event is offered here but the wording of the inscription (Two Man Team) leads to many questions (these could not be answered through research of newspaper accounts in both the St. Louis Star and Globe-Democrat):
Trans-Miss Golf Assoc.
Two Man Team 1941
Bottom inscription reads:
5 - 938 - 3
Back Label reads:

A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie
