1955 George May's Tam O'Shanter Chicago Golf Tournament Qualifying Professional Pin
The All-American Golf Tournaments hosted by George May and played at Tam O'Shanter Country Club just outside Chicago were the favorite event on the yearly 1950's PGA schedule. Though not a Major the Pros of the day would not miss this event as it provided by far the largest paychecks of the year, so large, that a player could win this sole event not win another in the course of the year and still lead the Tour in money won for the year. Offered here is the navy blue Contestants Pin of Frank Stranahan who after many years of playing in the event as an amateur was playing as a professional for the first time in 1955. Pin measures 2" diameter still retains in original pin backing, although it does show some wear on the reverse.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on December 7th with extended bidding to follow.
