Lot of Five Toney Penna Drivers Plus Set of Irons

Toney's Flex 3-Personal Driver
This club was used by Toney Penna in his later years. He would always experiment with dark mahogany color with white 4 screw insert. The unusual feature is the face was finished. Usually, the face was natural. This is a rare exception, and he never put it into production.

Toney Penna TP1X Prototype Oil Hardened Driver
The nick to the top of the club head is the only detraction to this experimental work of Penna. With original TP black/green grip this driver with a strong, but unlabeled shaft would be an asset to collections of drivers, persimmons or Penna. dense heads which required only aluminum weight screws (vs heavier brass) to meet proper specs

Toney Penna Model ROC Driver - TTW Shaft, TP Black/Yellow Grip Even Whipping All Original
This oil hardened driver with white Toney Penna signature toe decal seems near perfection in a golf club. The dense persimmon club with red four screw insert is original Penna work in every way from shaft to grip to even first generation whipping. Dense heads which required only aluminum weight screws (vs heavier brass) to meet proper specs

Toney Penna MOD1 Black Driver
This MOD1 Black driver has a red 4 screw insert and an original TP black/yellow grip. Head has a broken finish. Dense heads which required only aluminum weight screws (vs heavier brass) to meet proper specs

Toney Penna Used Gold Stamped Driver
Has broken natural finish on face of club. Toney Penna used this club and has a shortened grip which Toney favored, the evidence is the grip is only 8 1/2". Red 4 screw insert.

Toney Penna 2-9 Plus Pin Jammer Ironset
The T in TP is shaped like a golf tee. This was changed to a conventional "T" in 1973. There is an ad in March 7,1973 GOLF WORLD which shows Toney holding irons with the old markings. Stamped TP1 and CF16F on each club, small Toney Penna sole stamp.

In this auction we have many pieces of Toney Penna's prized design work which were highly sought after by amateur and professional players alike. Toney referred to many of these clubs as "Reference Clubs". The most perfect rendering of a model, these were used to compare a production club to its ideal. Toney frequently made prototypes, experiments, some were mass produced, and some were left on the workbench. Many of his masterpieces were too costly or difficult to make, to be considered for mass production. One example is drivers with intricate face inserts, while beautiful, too many clubs would be rejected because the heads were easily ruined. These clubs are the best of the best, cream of the crop. Toney Penna handcrafted original pieces of art, many ONE of a kind.
